The stampede to capture the growing tablet market continues, with another budget priced Android tablet being announced: the disgo Tablet 6000, which is set to retail for just £179 at major retailers like HMV, Amazon and Play.com.
Packing a 7-inch widescreen 800 x 480 pixels touch-screen display, the tablet runs the Google Android 2.1 OS, and comes pre-loaded with a portfolio of useful apps like YouTube, Twitter, a SlideMe Market applications downloader, wowBook eReader and Skyfire Internet browser.
Multimedia support
A stingy 2GB Micro SD card is bundled with the tablet, but users can upgrade to a 32GB card for iPad-matching storage.
The disgo Tablet 6000 touts its credentials as a multimedia device with support for a large range of audio, video and image files, including MP3, WAV, WMA, AAC, AAC+ music files, JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP image files and HD supported MP4 SP, AVI and 3G for high definition video.
Powered by a 1GHz CPU, there’s 256MB of on-board RAM, with connectivity options coming in the shape of 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi plus a Mini USB, 2.5mm earphone jack, DC jack and one HDMI connection for HD playback, with the tablet coming in a reasonably slim 14.6mm body.
There’s no word on battery life, but that weedy-sounding 1500mAh battery suggest users will need to stay in close proximity to a power socket.
The disgo Tablet 6000 is available from October 2010 for around £180 from Amazon.co.uk, Play.com and HMV.
