Rarely do things look as wrong as this, but researchers at Osaka University’s AFFETTO were apparently tasked with creating a robot modelled after a young child with a face so realistic that it would be, “treated as a human being by human caregivers, not as a robot.”
Christened Affetto, the body-free creature is currently under development in an ’emergent robotics laboratory’ at Osaka university and is designed for “simulating infant cognitive development.”
What they have in fact created is a deeply disturbing, weirdly gibbering dismembered head that looks like it has escaped from the set of Alien.
Run! Run we tell you!
