On our sister site urban75, you can read the story of a recently rediscovered press pack sent by NASA to a young schoolboy living in Cardiff, Wales, around the time of the Moon landings.
The package dates back to a time when NASA’s budget was able to afford sending out extravagant (but well received) letters to children, stuffed full of glossy photos and information sheets.
There’s also educational material showing how zero gravity works (using a bicycle as an example!) as well as a pice describing splashdown procedures for the first successful manned Moon mission.
We think it’s a lovely story: read more here: Unearthed! NASA’s reply to my astronaut application in 1969
