Acer has just ripped off its y-fronts and flashed their first e-reader device at the world.
Integrated keyboard
The LumiRead comes with an integrated keyboard, 6-inch E Ink display, WiFi and 3G connectivity options with 2GB of storage onboard (expandable via MicroSD).
With Acer already securing distribution deals with Barnes and Noble’s one million-book library, China’s Founder service, and Germany’s Libri.de, which carries four millions titles, there should be plenty of books available on launch.
Scanner
There’s also a cunning ISBN scanner onboard, which lets users scan a book in for later purchase online, with the wafer thin reader able to carry an entire library of up to 1,500 books.

Acer LumiRead comes with 6-inch display, it’s only few millimeters thick and permits to carry an entire library of up to 1,500 books in just a handful of grams. With non-glare, no backlit e-Ink display, it delivers a paper-like reading experience, even under bright sunlight.
Equipped with 2GB flash memory, it can hold more than a thousand of books and its capacity can be easily expanded just by adding a MicroSD card. An innovative ISBN scanner allows to scan ISBN codes so you can create your own wish-list and search on supported online libraries and book stores.
