Anyone looking to pick up an extremely cheap tablet should beat a path to their nearest Asda store, where the supermarket giant is offering the Android Arnova tablet for a mere £99.
Naturally, at this price you can quickly forget about bells, whistles, and any other snazzy extras, but the specs look decent enough for basic use, as ASDA’s tech expert Alex Crowe explains:
It’s absolutely amazing what can be packed in to this fantastic Arnova tablet. Tonnes of books and music, email, Internet browsing, games and much, much more – and it only weighs ounces. It really is the perfect holiday gadget and at this fantastic price it can’t be beaten.
The 8-inch Android 2.1-powered device comes with 4GB of internal memory, expandable via a SDHC slot, along with built in Wi-Fi (but no 3G).
Running Android 2.1, the battery life is quoted at a rather impressive 25 hours worth of music playback, with the unit boasting an 800×600 TFT screen and a lithium polymer battery.
The Arnova weighs 500g and measures up at a relatively compact 20.5 x 1.2 x 15.3 cm.
