The BBC has announced that it’s slapped backs and high five’d the folks at Stitcher.com to cut a deal to make the content of its World Service available to users of the mobile phone-based application.
The BBC World Service said that the corporation will “provide a selection of English language podcasts, with programming such as Global News, Digital Planet, Global Arts & Entertainment and Africa Today.”
We’ve been using the free Stitcher “Smart Radio” app on our Palm Pre for some time and have enjoyed digging into its extensive range of diverse audio content, covering news, sport, talk and entertainment.
The BBC content will be made available globally, with broadcasts streamed on-demand to users.
The Stitcher app is available on a number of handsets, including the iPhone, the Palm Pre and BlackBerrys.
Android support is apparently on its way, so hang on to your Hero’s.
