They’re certainly not glamorous things to look at, but the humble scanner remains a really useful thing, and happily the prices continue to fall while the technology improves.
Canon UK has just slipped out its new CanoScan 9000F Mark II scanner, which can scan reflective originals and get down’n’dirty with film formats thanks to its built-in transparency adapter.
The scanner can accommodate up to twelve 35mm film strips, 4 mounted slides or 120 format up to 6×22 cm, scanning at 9600 x 9600dpi for film, and 4800 x 4800 dpi for prints.
Freshly bundled in the package is the ‘My Image Garden’ software, which makes it easy to switch between scanning functions, and includes photo organising capabilities and face recognition features.
Canon’s Scan to Cloud feature lets users bang out scans straight to Evernote or Dropbox cloud services with a touch of a button, while the handy-sounding Stitch Assist function can assemble large A3 documents and photos via two scans and stitch them all together seamlessly. Lovely!
The CanoScan 9000F Mark II is available in the UK and Ireland from April 2013 with an RRP of £219/€240. It’s been out in the States since Dec 2012, where it retails for around $199.99.
