UK retailer Carphone Warehouse has just announced the sale of its one millionth Android smartphone in Europe, with the platform registering year-on-year growth in excess of 2,000-percent for Android smartphones.
Android hits the #1 spot
With over 1,700 stores, Carphone Warehouse is Europe’s largest independent cellphone retailer, and it seems that the punters are going ape for Android, with the platform being their most popular smartphone OS during the last quarter.
Driving the phenomenal increase in sales has been big hitting handsets like the HTC Desire, HTC Wildfire and Samsung Galaxy S, and with shiny new smartphones like the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, Samsung Galaxy S 2, and LG Optimus 3D coming up, sales are likely to keep on soaring.
