Now this is a handy feature. From today, the Android Dropbox mobile app can automatically upload your photos and videos to Dropbox using Wi-Fi or your data plan – and the iOS version is set to be updated to do the same shortly too.
Images are all uploaded at original size and full quality, and saved to a private folder in your Dropbox called Camera Uploads.
The Dropbox Windows and Mac desktop apps are also being updated to let them automatically upload from just about any camera, smartphone, tablet, or SD card you connect to your computer. A beta version is available here.
Images uploaded to Dropbox will be viewable on their updated dropbox.com website, which promises to “make it way more fun and easy to flip through your pictures, where they’ll be as big and beautiful as your screen allows.”
To entice users to start using the service, Dropbox are dishing out 500 MB of server space for the first automatic upload, up to a total of 3GB of free space.
The new Android app is available to download on the Market now.
