If you’re looking to bag yourself a shiny new Android phone but are a bit confused by the multitude of models on offer, a new website widget helps you navigate your way to handset nirvana.
Droidthing is an online database packing an interactive listing of all the Android devices on the market in the US (a total of 49 phones to date).
The site lets you select the features you need in your new phone (GPS, screen resolution, Wi-Fi, keyboard etc) and as you tick off your selections, the display updates to show only the phones that match your criteria.
Once you’ve narrowed your choice down to the phones that match your preferences, you can compare them all side by side, rummage through the specs sheets and compare sizes.
Clicking on an individual phone brings up a full spec sheet, with links to reviews and forum posts.
The (fairly) vast selection was whittled quickly down to just 2 as soon as I asked for a camera with flash and an FM radio!
Radios on mobiles don’t seem very common in the US- quite surprising given that they are big radio listeners over there.
