Google has announced that users can now transfer files via chat in iGoogle and Orkut, making it easy to quickly send a file to someone you’re chatting to.
From today, you’ll be able to waft photos, documents and other files in the direction of your chums while blathering away in iGoogle and Orkut – click on the new “Send a file” option in the Actions menu to get transferrin’.
Google say that the feature is also compatible with the file transfer functionality in the Google Talk downloadable software, so you can share files directly from the web with folks who use the desktop version.
The file transfer only works for Orkut and iGoogle for now, but Google say that they’re working on bringing it to Gmail soon.
Which would be rather handy.
This is awesome feature by Gmail. I have been waiting for this.
