It’s rather a sad day here at Chez Wirefresh, as large boxes are being filled with vast piles of music cassettes ready for throwing out.
Unused, unwanted and – for the last 15 years at least – pretty much unloved, the rise of CDs, and then MP3s and Spotify have put paid to the humble cassette.
Check out the article on our sister website, detailing the sad day and remembering the good times: C30, C60, C90, Go! Farewell then, trusty old cassettes
Sad days indeed. – cant believe there were others who letrasetted their inlay card spines… This is a most excellent resource http://www.c-90.org/ – check the catalogue
Oh no! Don’t throw them out.. freecycle them!
I know two people now who have done that & had very pleased people come round to collect them. In one case it was a van driver who had a tape player in his van.. I like the idea of somebody getting a random stranger’s music collection to listen to.
Presumably people might want them to record other stuff on too…
There are still a fair few cars/vans with tape players- some new cars still had them well into the 00s.
