Google Goggles is a fabulously neat app that lets smartphone owners search for things by taking pictures on their phones rather than typing in their queries.
The app can cunningly recognise things like books & DVDs, landmarks, logos, artwork, businesses and products, with the latest update packing an extra bonus – it can solve Sudoku puzzles!
All cheaters have to do is snap a picture of the puzzle, tap twice, and with a bit of Goggles-magic, the puzzle will be solved in a jiffy.
Faster scanning
The new version also comes with a speedier scanner that can also allow users to scan a barcode or QR code, as well as the ability to recognise print adverts in established magazines.
Sudoko solving wonder
Although a Sudoku solving app rather defeats the whole point of the game, it’s a mighty impressive technical achievement, and to ram the point home, a Nexus S handset running Google Goggles was pitched against Tammy McLeod, the 2009 national Sudoku champ.
Sadly for Tammy, her finely honed human Sudoku skills were no match for the mighty Nexus S/Google Googles combo, and defeat came swiftly.
