The team at Google have just released Google Maps 5.3 for Android, which lets you see your Google Location History dashboard, check in at ‘home,’ and add your own aspects for places when rating them.
The new Location History dashboard pulls in data from Google Latitude and lets you see how far you’ve travelled as well as serving up an an estimate of how much time you’ve spent at home, at work, or out.
Or in the pub.
Opt in
Location History can be enabled from from your computer or from Latitude’s Settings menu on your phone, and Google are quick to reassure users that the information is “100% opt-in and is private to you and nobody else.”
You can also ‘check in’ at home as well and elect whether to share that information with your friends or keep it to yourself.
We can’t say any of this is setting our world on fire, but you can read more on Google Blog, and download the Google Maps from Android Market.
