Fans of Google will be familiar with the company’s policy of adding topical logo tweaks and general anniversary-related japes (like the fabulous PACMAN game recently) and it seems that they’re all getting into the spirit of the forthcoming World Cup.
The greatest competition in the world (even with the mighty Wales team cruelly absent) starts in just three days, and Google has started celebrating early.
Head off to Google, type in, “World Cup 2010,” and right at thew bottom of the page you’ll see what the cheeky scamps have done, replacing their usual logo with an extended one.
They think it’s all over
The search results page has been revamped too, and displays information about the forthcoming matches and kick off times, as well as a series of flags identifying each country (we thought these would be clickable, and provide more info about each specific team but they’re not).
Google 1 Bing & Yahoo Rovers 0
Keen to see what the competition are up to, we also typed in “World Cup 2010” into Bing and Yahoo.
We think we like the Google one best.
