HP have unveiled their first stab at an Android tablet in the shape of the HP Slate 7, which is set to launch in April 2013 at a budget price of $169.99.
At that low price, the specs are going to be fairly rudimentary, with the 7″ tablet coming with a modest 1.6 GHz A9 processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of on-board storage with microSD expansion plus 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1.
The display can muster a modest 1024×600 pixels resolution, while there’s two cameras onboard, with a 3-megapixel rear camera and VGA grade front-facing shooter for video calls.
Running Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), there’ll be a few software tweaks courtesy of Beats Audio processing and ePrint software.
