HP have posted up the price of their new HP Pre 3 handset for UK denizens, with the company asking for 399 of your hard-earned British pounds to own this QWERTY-keyboard packing marvel.
At that price we don’t expect to see whooping crowds of high fivin’ fanboys setting up camp outside mobile phone outlets for the week, but it does come with the truly luscious webOS and a decent enough set of specs.
The new Pre packs a 3.58-inch multitouch screen supporting a 480×800 resolution WVGA display, slide-out physical QWERTY keyboard and Qualcomm MSM 8×55 (1.4 GHz) CPU.
There’s two cameras onboard – 5-megapixel auto-focus camera with LED flash, HD (up to 720p) video recording on the back and VGA on the front – plus 512MB RAM and (we think) 16GB internal storage.
Also on-board is an accelerometer, ambient light and proximity sensors, GPS and a compass; Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g/n 5GHz) with WPA, WPA2, WEP, 802.1X authentication and Wi-Fi router functionality for up to five devices using the HP mobile hotspot.
The handset is expected to start shipping from mid July, with pre-orders being taken from HP’s UK site, with the SIM free price of £399 being priced the same as their HP TouchPad 16GB WiFi tablet.

Cough… is that the correct price????
Embarrassing typo fixed!
interesting…I was nearly a Pre buyer all those years ago. In the end I chose to move from Palm treo to an iphone – and haven’t looked back since.
When I see a release like this I sometimes think of getting one, but my investment in iphone apps and learning how to use ’em means that I’ll probably just get another iphone (to use with a local sim abroad)..and then yet another iphone when my iphone4 dies…
Inertia is a powerful force…
I have a similar story to Piers, I was enthusiastically awaiting the first Pre but Palm took too damn long and when my much loved Palm Centro packed in I couldn’t wait for it and got an iPhone 3GS instead…
actually thanks Leon that reminds me – it was the Palm Centro not Treo I had before the iphone…
But the Treo was such a pioneer…I remember when I was the only person on trains checking my email and looking at bbc headlines
Sad that Palm threw that lead away
