Videos of the as yet unreleased HP Slate have started to circulate, and the latest eight-minute ‘hands on’ video even comes with one of the dreaded ‘unboxing videos.’
Skip forward to 3.23 minutes and you’ll get to see the tablet in action, albeit in a rather laggy fashion at times.
Two versions?
It looks like there’s going to be both retail and enterprise models, with the tablet being powered by a 1.86GHz Intel Atom Z540 CPU.
The 8.9″ screen supports multi touch, and there’s GMA 500 integrated graphics and a Broadcom Crystal HD video accelerator onboard.
Memory comes in the shape of a 64GB SSD and 2GB DDR2 memory, with the machine running Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit.
Other features include an accelerometer, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth and front and 3.2MP back cameras, backed by a 2 cell, 30Whr battery.
Not baby bum smoooth
It’s not the smoothest experience to behold – iPad owners certainly won’t be wailing with dissatisfaction after seeing this video – but it’s worth bearing in mind that this is only a prototype.
As such, we’ve no idea about pricing or a release date yet, but the presence of what looks like the finished packaging suggests that it can’t be that far away.
Edit: both videos have now bitten the dust, but a collection of stills is now circulating in the following video:
