Eugene Kaspersky was recently frothing excitedly about Android’s prospects (he thinks they’re going to bag an 80% market share) so it’s no surprise to see his company manoeuvring for a slice of the Android security market.
Kaspersky already have a fine reputation for providing excellent protection for desktop PCs, and the new Android app joins versions already available for other mobile platforms, and offers some useful security and privacy features:
- Disables or cleans stolen phone even if the SIM card has been replaced
- Advanced phone-finder technology provides Google Maps coordinates
- Blocks unwanted calls and texts from specified or unknown numbers
- Real-time virus scanning and advanced firewall for 24/7 protection
- Privacy mode hides designated contacts, calls, and SMS texts
Although we’re not convinced that an Android phone is in much danger of being infected with a virus at the moment, there’s certainly some privacy features in the Kaspersky Mobile Security 9 app that look useful.
However, all our enthusiasm vanished when we clocked the price – an almighty $29.95 for just one year’s protection.
Ouch!
kaspersky for mobile is yellow piece of shit. how can they force us to buy any software like this that it requires activation code on uninstall. same problem like Aijazz says
