Amazon has now released full details of the Kindle Fire HD tablet that is set to arrive in the UK in October.
Initially, it looks like us Brits are only going to get the 7″ version (in the States there’s also a 8.9″ version available).
The Kindle Fire HD claims to be the “world’s most advanced 7″ tablet” (take that Google Nexus 7!) and packs a 1280×800 HD display with polarising filter and anti-glare technology.
There’s custom Dolby audio and dual-driver stereo speakers onboard, and the tablet is the first to come with dual antenna, dual-band Wi-Fi for super-snappy downloads and HD streaming.
Inside thunders a 1.2 Ghz dual-core processor with Imagination PowerVR 3D graphics core, and there’s a front facing HD camera for Skype calls.
Battery life is quoted at a very impressive 11 hours of continuous mixed use, such as watching video, reading books, or listening to music.
Amazon is all about flogging content, and the users will be able to access over 22 million movies, TV shows, 20 million songs, books, and magazines, plus tens of thousands of popular apps and games .
To tempt users further, there’s also a free one-month free trial of the LOVEFiLM video streaming service thrown in, with free unlimited cloud storage for Amazon content.
Plug it into your TV
A real advantage over the Nexus 7 tablet is the provision of a Micro-HDMI (micro-D connector) port, letting users stream high-definition video output to their televisions or A/V receivers.
Amazon say that they’ll be lobbing “special offers personalised for you” on to the device and rather worrying-sounding “sponsored screensavers.”
The pricing is mustard keen though, with the 16GB version costing just £159.00 and the 32GB version £199.
Users can pre-order with a UK release date set for October 25, 2012 from this link: Kindle Fire HD 7″, Dolby Audio, Dual-Band Wi-Fi, 16 GB
