Lenovo has announced two new natty new thin’n’light laptops christened the ThinkPad Edge E220s, and the ThinkPad Edge E420s.
ThinkPad Edge E220s
Sporting a rather unconventionally-sized 12.5 inch LED-backlit display, the Edge E220s is aimed at suit-packing, swivel action business types with its understated looks bringing a brusque determination to the boardroom table.
Wrapped up in an aluminium-magnesium lid with a matte finish, the Edge E220s measures up at a lithe 12.3″ x 8.4″ x 0.86″ and weighs 3.5 pounds and comes with a trackpad and Lenovo’s trademark TouchPoint system.
Everything is changing
“How we think about PC design and the entire computing experience is changing,” insisted Peter Hortensius, senior vice president, Think Product Group, Lenovo.
“The new ThinkPad Edge premium laptops give users technology that is extremely personal, beautiful and powerful so they can accomplish their business goals and keep up with their personal lives.”
His company also insist that the new laptop, “Marries Urban Attitude and Performance-Driven Technologies,” but we’ll ignore alll that because it’s patently bollocks.

Pick and mix
The Edge E220s laptop will be served up in a selection of Intel Core i3, Core i5, or Core i7 processors, with support for up to 4GB of DDR3 RAM. Other options include 5400RPM or 7200RPM hard drives, 80GB or 128GB SSDs and 3G and 4G/WiMAX connectivity.
Other features include a high definition 720p HD webcam, VGA and HDMI ports, Dolby sound, onboard Wi-Fi, and 3 USB ports (one powered) and a 4-on-1 card reader.
ThinkPad Edge E420s
There’s also a bigger brother to the E220s in the shape of the ThinkPad Edge E420s which ups the display size to 14.1 inches, and offers extra options including AMD Radeon switchable graphics (depending on the market) and a slot-loading DVD burner.
The Edge E220s and E420s will be available in April, and will be priced at $899 and $749 respectively.
