Hewlett-Packard has hung on to its #1 on the planet ranking, increasing its share of the PC global market to 17.7 per cent in the third quarter of 2011, according to the number-crunching bods at Gartner.
Lenovo found itself rocketing into second place on the global stage, bagging a 13.5 per cent market share, representing a massive 25.2 per cent growth compared to the same quarter last year.
Their hefty growth was helped in part by a joint venture with NEC in Japan, while Dell’s global share fell slightly.

Big slice of Apple in the US pie
Apple may find itself lumped in with ‘others’ on the global stage, but it’s a different story in the US, where the company is in third place with a 12.9 per cent market share (up 21.5 per cent year on year).
This puts it behind Dell’s 21.9 per cent share and a fair way behind leaders HP who enjoy a 28.9 per cent slice.
