Known as the Droid Pro in foreign climes, Motorola has announced that it’s bringing its business focused Motorola PRO to Europe and description it as “A Work Phone Worth Taking Home”.
QWERTY in yo’ face
Running Android 2.2 and looking like an elongated Palm Treo, the 61 x 119 x 11.7 mm handset packs a 3.1 inch (320 x 480) touch-screen with a permanently exposed QWERTY keyboard – and looks keen to muscle into traditional Blackberry/Nokia territory.
Inside throbs a nippy a 1GHz processor, backed by 2GB of onboard memory, expandable up to 32GB courtesy of a microSD card, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR and 802.11 b,g,n Wi-Fi.
There’s also a 5 mega-pixel camera which dual LED flash, 480p movie capture up to 30fps, full Adobe Flash support and the ability to act as a 3G Mobile Hotspot.
One for the suits
The phone’s business focus is reflected by features like the ability to remotely wipe SDs card if the phone is lost, complex password support, microSD card encryption, pre-installed Quickoffice software and support for Authentic IPSec VPN integration.
To cut that extra dash in the office, there’s also a separate PRO desktop dock which works as a charging station that can display a clock, weather readings and a music/photo slide show.
No news of a launch date or price yet, but we’ll keep our lug ‘oles to the ground for news.
