It’s been a long-drawn out ride for HTC Desire customers on the Orange network in the UK – they only got the long overdue Froyo update yesterday – but it seems that over 33 per cent of all Android handsets are now running the latest 2.2 version of the operating system.
2.1 still rules
Although the rise is impressive, new figures released by Google show the majority of devices (40.4 per cent) accessing the Android Market are still running the last version of Android – 2.1.
A total of 33.4 per cent are now running the latest Froyo 2.2 OS version, up from 28.7 percent less than a month ago.
These figures won’t take into account the latest UK Orange update, and with 2.2 set to hit popular handsets like the Galaxy S soon, we can expect the majority of Android users to be using Froyo soon.
