To the sound of mass teeth gnashing all over the UK, Orange has announced a further delay to its Android 2.2 HTC Desire upgrade.
After promising a ‘mid-September’ date for the ‘Froyo’ Android operating system upgrade, Orange have reneged on their pledge, posting a message up on Twitter saying that yet another delay is coming right up:
Orange Desire fans – bit of an update on Froyo for you…
HTC told us they’ve had issues with the update, but these are now resolved. So we’re just waiting for them to give final partner approval.
Apols for the delay guys. We’ve been told to expect it shortly – think days rather than weeks!
So, there you have it – yet more delays for Orange HTC Desire users, and more opportunities to be taunted by Desire users on the O2 and Vodafone networks who have already received their updates.
The b*stards!
Of course, it should be pointed out that Orange PR manager Conor Maples has been caught LYING about the delay…

HTC are not at fault at all, Orange have the software and it is their responsibility to issue it to customers.
I like the way they keep trying to point the finger at HTC, and yet just about EVERYBODY else has the update already. stop bullshitting us orange, we’re over it. just tell us when we’re getting the update, and a useful little hint, pick a date later than you expect, so I can be pleasantly surprised for once, instead of even more annoyed.
