If you can’t get enough of admiring mugshots of your good self, then the new Photograbber app from Google will make it easy for you to fill up your ‘ME!’ album with tagged pictures from Facebook.
Once installed on your Mac or PC, Photograbber rummages through your friends’ Wall posts and seeks out any pictures they’ve tagged of you.
Unfortunately, there’s no way to preview the results (there’s no thumbnail view available yet), so you can either blindly download the lot, or visit the Facebook pages to check out the photos first.
The program can also download photos of any friends you request, with all pictures automatically dumped to your desktop by default.
Either way, the download option remains “all or nothing” and pictures can only be downloaded if your friends’ privacy settings let you in (if they’re set to ‘Everyone’ or ‘Only Friends’ to see and share photos,” you should be good to download with gusto).
Before you start dreaming of printing out a wall full of A4 prints of yourself, bear in mind that Facebook uses hideous levels of compression on images.
After seeing some of the photos of us all mashed up at various squat parties and Offline Club nights, we rather wish Google would invent a ‘nuke pictures all hideous Facebook photos of you’ option. We’d like that.
