Big, bold and bright, the Citizen Promaster Eco-Drive Titanium chronograph exudes a chunky charm that should appeal to sporty types and outdoor adventurers – and blokes who just like to have good looking watch on their wrist.
Officially designated the AT0660-64E, the Promaster is hewn from tough titanium and is surprisingly light for such a large watch.
Although it’s difficult to judge from the photos, this is indeed a watch that borders on the largish side, with the case diameter measuring up at 44mm (excluding crown).
With a claimed water resistance of 200 m (660 ft. or 20 BAR) you’ll be fine jumping in the bath with this bad boy on your wrist and the
scratch resistant crystal should keep the watch looking good for years.
It’s a very attractive watch to my eyes, and the face is supremely readable too, with large numbers for the 3, 6, 9 and 12 positions and large chunky bars for the hours between.
The hour/minute hands are also equally emphatic, although it’s a disappointment to see that the second hand only moves when the stopwatch is employed, with the seconds ticking off on the small dial at the bottom.
The other two subdials display the minute hand for the chrono and 24 hour time, with the date window at the 4 o’clock position.
Functionality is simple and straightforward (unlike some Citizens chronographs that seem unfathomable without a manual): pull out the screw-down crown to change the time/date, press the top button to start the chrono and the bottom one to stop it. Simples!
If you want to make sure that you can see your watch in the dark, you’ll have no problems with this watch which is one of the brightest I’ve ever tested. It is very bright indeed and easily readable in the pitch black.
Powered by light, courtesy of Citizen’s Eco-Drive, the AT0660-64E Promaster never needs a battery and has up to 5 months power reserve when fully charged.
The watch is a little hard to find in the UK, but can be found online for around £160-190.
Given that it comes with a titanium case and strap, has a clear and attractive face and looks like it could take a knock or two, I’d say it’s a great value watch for those who like their timepieces on the rugged and large size.

Interesting. read the review I loved the look and feel of the black leather strap but were a tad disappointed that is genuine leather.
