Samsung’s 3.2-inch Galaxy Player has boldly strutted its stuff into the Amazon UK store, with the attractively priced portable media player (PMP) now being offered on pre-order.
8GB/16GB models
With a release date set for January 7th, the Android powered player comes in two flavours, with the 8GB model set at a competitive £150, and its larger 16GB bigger brother serving up double the storage for £180.
Gunning for the iPod touch
Samsung are clearly eyeing up Apple’s iPod touch here, and although there’s no Retina Display onboard, the specs are pretty darn spicy, with support for a ton of formats.
Samsung list the Galaxy Player as supporting MPEG4/H.264/H.263/WMV/DivX/Xvid video formats and MP3/AAC/WAV/FLAC (lossless)/WMA/OGG/AMR audio formats.
That little lot should take care of just about everything in your media collection.
Android Market
There’s also full access to the Android Market, a built in external speaker, FM radio, internet browsing over wi-fi, a built in camera/video and a microSD card slot for up to 32GB expansion, making this player a bit of a, well, playa.
