The pocket-challenging Samsung Galaxy Note 2 king size phone/tablet has now been put up for pre-order in the UK, courtesy of the Mobiles Unlocked website.
The handset packs an almighty 5.5-inch screen and quad-core CPU and is listed as available to buy SIM-free for the wallet-draining price of £544 for the 16GB model – with delivery expected in mid-October (we expect other deals to be announced soon from UK networks).
The original Galaxy Note confounded its critics, with many expecting consumers to be baffled by such an oversized half-phone/half-tablet creation.
Instead, the handset went on to be a big global seller, shifting over 10 million units in the nine months after launching.
The updated Note 2 is slightly thinner than its predecessor at 9.4mm and packs a 1.6GHz 4+1 processor, 1280×720 Super AMOLED display and runs on the latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Android OS.
Big in size and big on features, the phone also comes with the rather natty S-Pen stylus, S-Beam sharing technology, NFC connectivity and an 8-megapixel camera around the back.
The Note 2 be served up in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB flavours, with a MicroSD card slot allowing additional storage.

The Note has been a total joy for me, fitting happily in most pockets. The one feature that has been underplayed is the cinematic experience watching movies/series. I’m already jealous of the increased specs and battery life for the Note 2. The Note series is a big winner.
