The internet tipsters can’t quite work out if it’s going to be called the Samsung Galaxy S Mini or the Samsung Galaxy S Cooper, but it seems that a mini-version of Samsung’s hugely successful Galaxy S Android phone is certainly revving up and getting ready to go.
Measuring 112.4 x 59.9 x 11.5 mm, it’s not exactly a mini-me version of the Galaxy S, with its frame only a smidgen smaller than its big brother (122.4 x 64.2 x 9.9 mm), and it weighs a mere 6 grams less at 113 grams.
Lower specs
Also known as the Samsung Galaxy Ace, it seems that its diminutive moniker is all down to the slimmed down specs, with the cheaper handset running Android Froyo with Samsung’s TouchWiz re-skinning, and sporting a 3.5 inch touchscreen (480 x320 res) powered by a more stately 800 Mhz Qualcomm processor.
Inside there’s just 150 MB of internal memory- expandable by microSD – with Samsung flicking a 2GB card in the box.
Well connected
Connectivity options abound in the shape of DNLA compatibility plus HSDPA (7.2Mbps) 900/2100MHz, EDGE/GPRS, 850/900/1800/1900MHz and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n.
There’s also A-GPS and FM radio with RDS, with 5MP camera with LED flash lurking on the back.
