If you’re the sort of person that likes to go stomping over wild windswept moors, tumbling over craggy hilltops or perhaps indulging in a spot of bog snorkelling, then Samsung’s new rugged Galaxy Xcover handset could be your perfect outdoor companion.
Safely housed in tough housing sporting IP67 certification, the handset is protected against dust and dirt, and waterproof to a depth of one meter for up to half an hour.
The Android 2.3 smartphone comes with a toughened, scratch-resistant touch 3.6″ screen display, and a handy camera LED photo light which doubles up as a flashlight or signal light.
Samsung have lobbed in the usual social networking goodies with the Samsung Social Hub onboard, and there’s a 3.2-megapixel camera on the back for snappping your burly outdoor activities, with HSDPA 7.2Mbps and Wi-Fi connectivity options.
The handset is expected to be released in time to face October’s inclement weather although there’s no news about a UK release date or pricing yet.
