If you’re fed up staring at the same dull background on your computer screen every day, we recommend you take a stroll over to the excellent Desktop Nexus website.
With over three and half thousand user-uploaded, high resolution wallpapers available for free downloading, you should be able to find something to liven up your desktop.
As you might expect from any site driven by user-generated content, there’s a wide range of styles on offer, ranging from the inevitable bulging collection of bikini-clad hotties to animals, architecture, technology and video games.
The quality is generally high throughout, and it’s worth persevering past some of the more gaudy and tacky offerings because there’s some great images to be found.
The collections are themed and easily browsed, and you can check out the most popular wallpapers of the day, week, month or year.
Installation
Installing the wallpaper is easy-peasy: simple click on ‘enlarge image’ and the site will serve up a picture already optimised for your monitor’s screen size.
If you’re using Mozilla/Firefox, it’s simply a case of right clicking on the image and clicking the ‘Set as Desktop Background…’ link from the menu that pops up, and you’re done.
