Proving that extravagant wealth and style don’t always sit together well is Vertu ‘s latest update to their hyper-expensive T1 handset, which is now available in two limited editions.
The ghastly-looking phone is now available covered in “Sunset Red” or “Midnight Blue” calf leather, with only 1,000 units of each colour made available. Each handset is individually numbered.
As for the phone’s specs, it’s still the same as the original T1, coming with a 3.7-inch tough sapphire screen, Android 4.0, 1.7GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 CPU, 64GB storage plus an 8-megapixel camera.
The big selling point for the stupidly rich is the Vertu Concierge service which serves up “expert assistance, recommendations and priority bookings” and promises access to “money-can’t-buy events, experiences and everything in between.”
Of course, the Concierge service isn’t for oiks or the great unwashed, with the handset priced at around £7,000 (HK$90,000/ €8,900/ US$11,700). So we’ll be giving it a miss.
