Served up in 2GB and 4GB flavours, the diminutive Walkman B170 devices from Sony weigh in at just 28 grams, but still have enough juice to keep you rocking through 18 hours of listening on a full charge.
Onboard you can find an equalizer ready and willing to ‘sculpt’ your sound, a voice recorder and USB port, plus the aforementioned “Bass Boost” option which claims to aurally delight you with a pleasing rumble of low frequencies.
Sony’s snappy-sounding Zappin search technology is built-in too. This lets you listen to small snippets of tracks as your collection is being scanned, and bashing the “Zap” button at any time lets you listen to the full track.
There’s a neat feature for forgetful charging types: if the battery is flat, a quick three-minute charge will give you a full 90 minutes of listening time.
The Sony Walkman B170 will be ready for serving in black, red and blue (cyan) colours from February, with prices starting at around £30.
