Mobile retailer Phones4u have staged a particularly daft ‘smartphone shootout’ to discover which is the best camera phone around.
For reasons best known to themselves, the shoot-out comes in the shape of a Wild West showdown, narrated by a fantastically awful attempt at an American accent.
The first shootout – the quickdraw round – sees the new Sony Xperia S slug it out with the iPhone 4S, the Samsung Galaxy S2 and the Nokia Lumia 800.
Slowest to shoot was the iPhone 4s which could only register a leisurely 5.09 seconds to grab the shot, followed by the Galaxy S2* with 5.02 seconds, with the lack of a dedicated shutter button slowing both camera operations down.
The Nokia Lumia 800 clocked in at 3 secs, while the Sony Xperia S rattled off its pic at 1.8 seconds.
The next (and final round) was decided on image quality , with the Sony Xperia S emerging the winner.
Wince your way through the video below to see the shoot out in action:
*We ran a test with our own Galaxy S2 which has the free Go Locker app installed. This places a camera button on the unlock screen giving far faster access. As a result, we managed a far snappier 3 seconds.
